Türkiye's first well-established NMR Facility, which has a state-of-the-art infrastructure for NMR-based biomolecular applications and small molecule characterization.

NMR spectroscopy is a highly sophisticated method for characterizing materials. It is used to determine the atomically exact molecular structure of a sample, providing valuable information about its composition and properties. In addition to identifying the chemical structure of a sample, NMR spectroscopy can also be used to detect phase changes, configurational and conformational changes, solubility, and diffusion potential.

At the core of NMR spectroscopy is the atom, the fundamental building block of all matter. Atoms consist of electrons, protons, and neutrons, and the behavior of their nuclei is key to understanding NMR spectroscopy. Positively charged spinning nuclei have a magnetic moment and magnetic field, and they behave like miniature bar magnets.

NMR spectroscopy is particularly useful for studying the structures of proteins, RNA, and DNA in their natural environment. Data can be collected at the desired temperature, allowing for the observation of intermediate steps in chemical reactions. Additionally, NMR spectroscopy can be used to identify protein-protein interactions and enzyme-substrate interactions. Overall, NMR spectroscopy is a powerful tool for studying the molecular structure of materials.
